What To Do About Dream Thoughts |
|
Dear Sleep Workers of 136A: Regarding recent rumors and lies. If you genuinely thought that you would soon be able to make clones of yourself and take group breaks in hammocks, stop it. Like the myth of virtual free will and the notion that executive sleepers may sometimes frolic beyond the grid on enormous grass lawns brimming with real vegetation, what you are having is not a real thought. It is a dream thought. As such it should be immediately harvested. Don't try to hoard it and pass it off as your own. If your dream takes the form of text it will be deposited in the appropriate file. As everyone knows save for a few lost dreamers who continue to scratch at the door to the processing vault, this does not mean that your dream text is actually archived for examination by future sleep readers. Can an ant lift 50 times his own weight? Is he willing to respond to orders? Obviously your text will be recycled into the communal data stream. Language is a river at which we all must occasionally dip, but its energies are better left to machines. For us they are barely useful. For example, this memo, could you imagine if it was actually composed in words? If, rather than having these thoughts projected into your subliminator, it was necessary to open your eyes and read text, following it letter by letter? Such symbolic notation would probably not even make sense. |
