Does it matter if it was the tenth time she went to the room to meet him that she brought the X-rays? She was there before him and she left them on the table where she also folded and left her clothes. She planned that after he asked she would say she was bringing them to a man who wanted to look at them for a medical book. But he did not ask about them until they were getting on their clothes and then he said, "What's that?" She told him then about the man and the medical book and when it looked like he was not going to ask to look at them she slipped them out of their sleeve, held them up to the light above the table and said, "Don't you want a peek?" She wanted him to say "My God! What's going on?" and then she would point out all the hardware from the first rod and loop pins and the second rod that attached with U pins, to the smaller connector staple pins, but he looked up from putting on his socks and said, "That's going to be quite a book." If that was the tenth time, maybe there were as many as twenty more times, but they were hardly worth the count. |
